Loren Johnson Obituary
Loren E. Johnson, 80, of Houston passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at his home. Mr. Johnson was born October 2, 1932 in Kansas City, MO to Carl and Beulah Johnson. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Mashaw and son, Stephen Loren Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Julia Megill Johnson; daughter, Joyce Lynn Johnson Woznica; grandchildren, Kristin Lauren Mashaw Economidis, James Ryan Mashaw, Elizabeth Marie Woznica, Lauren Emily Woznica; great grandchildren, McKenzie Ann Mashaw, Sofia Elizabeth Economidis, Eva Claire Economidis; sister, Joelene Ann Johnson; sister-in-law, Margaret Megill and brother-in-law, George Megill and wife June. Mr. Johnson also leaves many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Loren served his country in the Korean Conflict in the US Army. He received a Masters Degree from Tulsa University and worked for Exxon Mobil for 35 years. He was an active member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, and through his many years of service to the church was on the board of trustees, financial committees and worked with the "Soup Mobile". The family would like to thank Cheryl and Adele Miller, and all the members of Elderly Care of Texas. They took great care of him for the last several years, especially in his last days.
A Memorial Service celebrating Mr. Johnson's life will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079. A reception will follow in Friendship Court. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions in Loren's memory to the Caring Forever Fund at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.
