Manuel (Manny) Reichstein, age 89, passed away in Houston on Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was born in Galveston on September 27, 1923. He graduated from Ball High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations. After an early career in radio broadcasting, Manny worked in retail for over fifty years. He loved history, movies, and sports, and he was devoted to his Jewish heritage.
Manny was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Uretzky Reichstein, his parents, Sol and Dora Reichstein, and his brother, Abe Reichstein. He is survived by his children Karen and Bill Rubinsky, Mitchell and Vicki Reichstein, Sheldon Reichstein, Jerald and Shelli Reichstein, and Bruce and Susan Reichstein; grandchildren Albert and Melissa Rubinsky, Scott and Elizabeth Rubinsky, Lauren Reichstein, Jamie Reichstein, Aaron Reichstein, Ashley and Victor Vallet, Natalie Reichstein, Erica Reichstein, Adam Reichstein, Wendi Reichstein, and Samantha Reichstein; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Congregation Beth Jacob Cemetery, 61st Street and Avenue T½, at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 13, 2013, with Rabbi Todd Doctor officiating.
