Philip Hugh DeRouen age 97, passed away peacefully in the mid-afternoon hours of September 6, 2013, following a brief illness. Phillip is preceded in death by his loving wife, Genevieve Breaux, his parents, Numa J. and Emma Louise Johnson DeRouen and his eleven brothers and sisters - Joseph, John, Paul, Bernice, Edma, Jeanne, Marc, Haywood, Francis, Robert and Alice. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends from St. Jude Shrine in Stafford.

Philip was born on August 23, 1916, in New Iberia, Louisiana. He proudly served his country in Guadalcanal, the Northern Solomons and New Guinea as Staff Sergeant in the 12th Fighter Squadron AAF. He was awarded the American Defense Service Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars. Following his service to our country he worked and retired from Western Electric.
Services for Philip will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at St. Jude Shrine in Stafford, TX. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM with recitation of the Rosary at 9:30. The funeral mass will begin at 10:00. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale. Pallbearers will be Robert DeRouen, Jr., George Powell, Chris Hester, Bob Wright, Ron Keller and Gary Giuffre. Honorary pallbearer will be Hugh LeBlanc.
