Ralph Allen Frankson, DDS of Houston, TX passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the age of 83.|
Ralph is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia, his daughter Leslie Holle & husband Matt, son Richard Frankson & wife Judy; grandchildren Zachary & Ethan Holle, Meghan, Christopher & Catherine Frankson; sisters Melba Anders, Margaret Claughton, & Florence McFall and one brother Dale Frankson. He was predeceased by his parents, Fluke & June Frankson and one brother Vernon Frankson.
Born on August 26, 1930 in Lyford, TX, he was raised on his family's farm in Carancahua, TX until the age of 10 when they moved to Walla Walla, WA.
Ralph had many jobs and adventures in his younger years, including serving in the Corps of Engineers for a time before he was drafted.
After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he attended Victoria Junior College & The University of Texas at Austin. He graduated in 1960 from The UT Dental School in Houston. Ralph was a member of the UT Dental School Faculty for 30 years, the last 10 of which he was Chairman of the General Practice Dept. Ralph loved teaching dentistry, loved his students and was greatly admired and loved by them.
Ralph was an animated storyteller who loved spending time with family and friends, working in the yard, and playing golf. In his retirement he and Sylvia enjoyed traveling extensively. Ralph's kind nature and sense of humor will be missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Bayou Vista Continuing Care for their compassion.
A memorial in celebration of Ralph's life will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 17th at the Eagle's Trace Retirement Community, 14703 Eagle Vista Dr., Houston, TX 77077.
