REBECCA (BECCA) RAUSCHER AASHEIM born April 20, 1961, lost her battle with brain cancer on June 13, 2008. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, Daniel and beloved son Benjamin, her parents Mary Lynn and Bob Putnam, Donald and Jill Rauscher, her sisters Terry Overcash, Julie and Jeff McFarland, Leslie and Brandon Sawyer, and brother Paul J. Rauscher, her Aunt Paula and Uncle George Stephenson and her dear in-laws Glen and Kemmie Aasheim. In addition, many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins will miss her terribly. Becca was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Mary and Paul Harper, and her paternal grandparents, Leona and Joe Rauscher. Becca graduated from Clear Lake High School and received Bachelor and Master's degrees from the Univ. of Texas and the Univ. of Washington (Seattle) in Theater Arts. Her love of performing began as a four year old in the Clear Creek Country Theater. She performed in regional theaters on both coasts in wonderful leading roles. She was very well thought of in the theater world and was an accomplished actress and beautiful dancer. Becca was a member of the esteemed Players Club in New York City, founded by Edwin Booth. She excelled at sewing, cooking and water skiing. Her favorite role, however, was her role as "Mom" to her beloved Benjamin. A celebration of life service will be held at Lakewood Yacht Club, 2425 NASA Rd 1, Seabrook, TX, on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 10:00 am.

I just learned of Becca's passing from another Monomoy Theater alumnus. I had the pleasure of working with Becca in 1985 and 1986. She was as kind, gracious and funny on stage as off and I considered it a privilege to work with her. Her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I just learned last evening of Becca's passing from Jack Cirillo, a classmate from University of Washington. We were in the graduate Actor Training program there and Becca and I did our showcase scenes together when we went to NYC in the spring of '86. Unfortunately, we lost touch after that but I have thought of her often. Besides being an incredible talent she was a good friend to me at the UW. We shared an office when we were teaching undergrads and I always enjoyed her wit and sense of humor when discussing our less than talented acting students or her strong will when we protested and marched on the Theater Administration office. She will be truely missed. My condolences to her family. May she rest in peace.

I just found out about Becca. We met in NYC at a law firm and immediately became friends. I was pursuing a career in opera, so we bonded as creative artists. I also worked on my doctorate at the University of WA, and we were able to share stories about the university. Becca was a bright light. When I had the priviledge to be around her, she made me laugh and smile. I was always thrilled when I knew we would be able to touch base. I am sad and I will surely miss her.

I am only now discovering this devastating news. I worked with Becca for one summer at Monomoy Theatre and she was the greatest thing that had ever happened to me. I can still here her warm, wonderful laugh. She was so beautiful, incredibly talented, wickedly funny and brought nothing but joy to everything she touched and everyone she met. I have so many tremendous memories of her and still tell stories of my time with her. She was my lifesaver that summer. We had kept in touch for a few years after Monomoy but then time and distance happens as it does. I have periodically sought a means to find her and reconnect again and in doing so once more today, I came across this listing. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones. There was no one like her. The world has lost one of its brightest and loveliest creations.

Dear Mary Lynn and Bob, I just heard of Becca's passing a couple of days ago. I am so sorry for your loss. Becca was such a beautiful person inside and out. It was always a blast when she or Terry would babysit us! And I will never forget seeing her perform the lead role of Sharon in Finian's Rainbow when she was in high school. I will write to you both soon. This is so heartbreaking. She will be missed so much.

We just heard about Becca’s passing and we are absolutely heartsick. We send our heartfelt condolences to her beloved Daniel, her dearest Ben, "Grandma Bunny," her dad and her sisters and brother. I will never forget the first time we met Becca, at Bouquet Canyon Elementary, sitting in front of the office, smiling shyly at the rest of us, just daring us not to talk to her. Thank goodness we had the honor of knowing her. Becca was so vibrant, sweet and intelligent that she simply shimmered. Listening to her recount her day of making Xerox copies in the school office was like watching a sit-com—she acted out the voices and mannerisms of every character she encountered. And yet, as gifted, enthusiastic and engaging as she was, her stories were invariably infused with the warmth and kindness that colored her every interaction. The kids and I miss her already. I can almost see Becca on Election Night, watching the returns on some celestial big screen TV and sharing wine and cheese with Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy... Our loss is Heaven’s gain.

As I think of Becca, I remember most of all her friendship, fabulous performances, laughter, wit and her absolutely beautiful personality, in addition to her stunning beauty. I had the pleasure to work with Becca on many UT productions, but remember most the great fun we had in summer stock alternating between SOMETHINGS AFOOT and SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY. The stars are brighter now, and Heaven has an incredible new angel. I'll always love you, sweet Becca. My deepest condolences to your family.

I have known Becca since her days at K&E. She was a wonderful and upbeat person. Early in 1994 I mentioned to her that I planned on taking my nephew to Las Vegas for a week, with a side trip to the Grand Canyon. Becca mentioned that she would be in Utah performing at a Shakespearian Festival in June 1994. Since I would be in the neighborhood, I told her that I will go and see her in one of her performances. My nephew and I took a Greyhound bus (I don't drive well) to watch Becca perform at the Utah Shakespearian Festival. She was wonderful. We met with her after her performance and ended up eating lunch at McDonalds. I still have the brochure from that show with pictures of her in costume. Becca will be missed.

I met Becca when our sons, Ben and Will, were in the first grade together at Crestview. The three Aasheims and the three of us hit it off with common interests in food, books, music, camping, and soccer. I have innumerable happy memories of fun times shared with Becca—sledding on Mt. Baldy, camping in Joshua Tree, days at Disneyland and the Getty Center,…. A standout is the time we saw the musical “Wicked” together in December. We enjoyed it as fellow dancers/performers, and also as a girls’ night out. These words from a song about the unique friendship in “Wicked” have special resonance for me now: “You’ll be with me, like a handprint on my heart. And now whatever way our stories end, I know you have re-written mine by being my friend.” I will miss my beautiful, generous, garrulous, intelligent, and vivacious friend very much.

Monomoy Theatre, '85, '86, '89 -- I was blessed to meet Becca at Monomoy in 1985 and even more blessed to have her as my roommate there the next year. She is one of the finest talents and kindest friends I've ever known; and I treasure the time I was lucky enough to get to spend with her. My deepest sympathy to her wonderful family - and to the many, many others in this world who love this precious, amazing person. And thank you, Becca. You gave, and still give me, unspeakable joy.

I know Becca as she worked beside us at Disney. When you got to know her you soon realized that there was far more to Becca than her position could reveal. No task was too small for her to help us with and she was smart enough to keep us pulled together. Becca’s other talents shown through as she related stories with great drama and humor.
Everything Becca helped us to do was in support of her family. She spoke frequently about Daniel and Ben, her beautiful, brilliant boy. Becca shared a fabulous photograph of herself working on a science experiment with Ben. While she kvethced as all women do about how she looked in the picture, I told her it was beautiful. It was the epitome of her understanding of motherhood and how instinctively she understood her greatest role.
With profound sadness I will miss Becca and her hopeful heart. I offer my deepest sympathies to Daniel, Ben and your family.

My deepest sympathies to all of Becca's family. I attended UT with Becca and although it's been many years, I would like to celebrate her life by sharing my fondest memories of her. I mostly recall her infectious laughter, sense of humor, and captivating smile. During various classes, we would typically have to stretch our bodies and moan with our voices in an effort to warm up our "instruments." Because we thought it was kind of goofy, Becca and I would just elongate the word "joke" instead of moaning any old gibberish. She would look up at me and just smile. I also remember her amazingly gifted talents, whether it was acting, dancing, and singing or speaking with her smooth and mellifluous voice. I also affectionately recollect her compassion, warmth, generosity, strength, and sense of self. Even though I was extremely saddened to learn today of Becca's passing, I am surely comforted by one true fact. The more you grieve, the more you loved. After reading all of the comments, condolences, and fond memories of everyone who signed this guest book, it is clearly evident that we all loved Becca because she touched each and every one of our lives. It's a rare person in this life to have had that many people love them and have such wonderful memories of their time together.

Like some of the familiar names I see here today, I knew Rebecca from UT-Austin. I was about a year ahead of her, but from the moment she arrived, it was clear she was blessed with a breathtaking talent for the stage. Offstage, she was known for her kind heart, love of life, laughter, and charm in every sense of the word. She also possessed a rifle-shot wit; and being caught in Rebecca’s crosshair was not necessarily a good place to be…. But it was always in the name of mirth; and she had mirth in abundance. I have no doubt she lived a full and wonderful life, for the time that she was with us. I am deeply sorry to hear of her passing I offer my heartfelt sympathy to her husband, her family, and her friends. Our lives were enriched for having known her.

I had the great fortune to be Becca's roommate at UT for two years, and couldn't have better memories of her loving, open, smiling spirit. Our crazy house, the San Gabriel Estate, was populated with our roommates - B, Lannyl, Margaret, Randy, Doug, me - and quickly became "the hub" of the drama department. It was an amazing time of learning, growing, friendship and an indecent amount of fun. I will always remember Becca's energy, focus, nurturing, mischievious nature and hearty laugh. Much love to Daniel and Becca's beloved Ben.

Becca was a Shining Bright Light in my life. We met doing a Shakespeare comedy eons ago. I remember her as a gloriously talented, funny, intelligent actress who always had the audience in the palm of her hand. As well as being a compassionate, kind, wildly funny woman who was a great listener and an energetic workout partner at the gym or outdoors. My deepest condolences to her husband, son and to her loving family and friends.

Becca was one of our dearest friends when we lived together in the "Estate" at UT. Becca, Lannyl, Gretchen, Randy and I formed a wonderful family. I have wonderful memories of Becca sewing clothes for us, cooking thanksgiving dinner, breaking into the old dance studio to dance just for fun and even playiing Viet Nam medic is the muddy front yard. Our time together was brief but our memories will last forever.
I will miss you Becca, my sweet, loving, hard-headed, focused, amazingly talented roomate and friend.

Becca was one of the most upbeat persons I have ever known. While working with her at Disney for only a short time, Becca was a cheerful, can-do person who was fun to be around and energized others in her presence. Becca was everything I'd expect from a Texas gal (being one myself I feel a bit of an expert in recognizing some of the traits): spirited, intelligent, commanding, with razor-like wit and the ability to size someone up at a glance. I had the privilege of learning from Becca while attending the University of Washington. Her talent was inspiring and her "work" always clear and committed. We were all lucky to have been in class with her and to be buoyed during tough training by her humor, devotion and good sense. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

Becca was Beautiful. Becca was Cool. Becca was Astonishingly Talented. More than anything, Becca was Dedicated: a dedicated friend, a dedicated wife, a dedicated mother, a dedicated Artist. She loved life, she loved the Theatre, she loved Process, and perhaps most of all, she loved her family. Her son was her greatest joy, and her husband her greatest strength. Becca was my student (at UT-Austin) and later a professional colleague at both the Monomoy Theatre and the Utah Shakespearean Festival. She became my friend and one of those special actors with whom I chose to work repeatedly. Her passion, insight, beauty and spirit were infectious and inspiring. Becca was the real thing. I send deep wishes of comfort to Daniel (with whom I have also worked) and to her son, Benjamin. Many years ago, Becca was an occasional baby-sitter for my son, Matthew. He adored her--and I know how much she must have cherished Benjamin. All my love to Becca's family.

After years of hearing wonderful things about Becca from my fondest friends and thinking they couldn't possibly be true, I finally had the personal joy of meeting and working with her in 1994, when she came into our production of BLITHE SPIRIT as her own sultry Elvira. Hilarity reigned, as predicted. Her performance as Dolly Levi, a few years later, was mesmerizing, too.
Becca enhanced the lives of people around her. She was an enchanting actress, and a smart, beautiful and loving woman. We are so much richer for having known her!
