Richard Bleakley "Dick" Ross passed peacefully on July 7th. He is now with the Lord and his wife Vera in Heaven. Born on June 22, 1929 in Dallas Texas, he had just celebrated his 85th birthday. Dick attended Bryan High School (Texas) and went on to become a Fightin' Texas Aggie. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets, Ordnance "A", Class of '52. After graduating, he went to Corpus Christi and taught high school while awaiting orders from the US Army. Dick served as a Lieutenant in the US Army Ordnance Corps at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. His most exciting stories were when he was on an Explosive Ordnance Demolition (EOD) team there at Aberdeen. After his service he married his longtime sweetheart Vera Maass in Houston on August 4, 1956. In 1960 he joined the Medical Protective Insurance Company where he worked until his retirement in 1994. He then went on to teach as a substitute in the Katy ISD until 1999. Since then, he enjoyed seeing his grandchildren grow up, hunting waterfowl in Garwood, dove & quail at his farm near Prairie View, and pheasant in Kansas and South Dakota.
He was predeceased by his wife Cervera M. Ross and his parents George F. and Martha Ross. He is survived by his daughters Loren and Kim and their husbands Jeff Clark and Ray Corder, his grandchildren Kortnie Thomas (Ryan), Shannon Templeton (Jason), Elyssa Vasquez (Andrew), Ross Corder (Bethany), and Ashton Corder, and his great-grandchildren Tye Thomas, Dalton Templeton and Layne Thomas.
