Robert H. Parker died on Saturday, July 13, 2013. He was born in 1926 in Pecos, Texas. Bob attended Texas A & M University, served in the US Army in Manila, Philippines from 1945-1946, then returned to Texas A & M and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1949. He married Margaret Stone in September 1947, a marriage that lasted 65 years. After graduation, they moved to Houston where Bob worked for Lockwood Andrews & Newnam for 32 years. He was an avid golfer, an Aggie at heart and was actively involved with St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Family was the most important part of his life; Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Jim Parker & Patience Diaz, Judy Riley & husband Andy Anderson, Jean Prados & husband Pete; grandchildren, Dennis Riley & wife Sheila, Courtney Lyssy & husband Justin, Christie McMillan & fiancé Erickson Sullivan, Justin Parker, Caitlyn Parker, and Robby Anderson; great-grandchildren, Dominique, Micah and Daniel as well as numerous other extended family and many loving friends.
The Parker family will be present to receive friends Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM with a Vigil & Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Dr. @ Kirkwood in Houston. The Funeral Mass will commence Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079. A reception will follow mass in St. Jude Hall on the church grounds. A committal service will be held at a later date at Southpark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be directed to Social Ministries at St. John Vianney Catholic Church or the . Visit to leave online tributes.
