Roscoe Scott Obituary
Rev. Roscoe Scott ,US Air Force Retired, son of Rachel and Walter Scott, entered life in Van Vleck, Texas on September 19, 1929 and entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2013. The seventh of eight children he was united in Holy matrimony to Faye Nell McNeil in 1951. This union produced three children. He loved hunting and fishing and spent a good portion of his life pursing this passion. Roscoe traveled rather extensively during his 20 year tenure in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in England where his eldest child Roscoe II was born; in Wichita Falls, TX where his daughter Barbara was born; and in Colorado Springs where his youngest Kenneth was born. He often had to be away from his family when he was stationed in places like Guam, North Dakota, and Sherman, TX to name a few, but his heart was never far away from his family. After being stationed at Ellington Air Force Base in the early 60's he decided to settle his family down in Houston, Texas as he and his wife felt that it would provide a more stable environment for their 3 young children. After retiring from the military he joyfully returned home to his family for good and homesteaded in Houston. He then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service where he served faithfully as a letter carrier until his early retirement in 1975 due to a disability. He was called into the ministry in January 10, 1982 at Blueridge Baptist Church under the pastorage of Pastor W.D. Richardson. He remained faithful to his faith and was a member of Blueridge for many years. Sometime after his wife's passing in 1989 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Patricia Spencer of Houston, TX on March 27, 1993 to which he was still married to upon his passing.
He is preceeded in death by his parents; six siblings; and his wife of 38 years (Faye Nell). He is survived by his wife, Patricia of 20 years; three children, Roscoe Scott II of Houston, TX; Barbara Faye Scott of Carrollton, TX; and Kenneth Ray Scott of Houston, TX; his only surviving sibling, Bessie Lee Walker (of Compton, California); grandchildren, Rochelle, Cedric, Kennetha , Shametria , and Shantel; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Viewing and visitation with the family will be (Friday) June 28, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be (Saturday) June 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be at Blueridge Baptist Church, 9621 Chesterfield with Rev. Gregory Hood officiating. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens.
