Rosie Barrera was born on May 22, 1948 in Sidney, Montana. She was lovingly raised by Sherman Strong and Mary McMurry Strong, her parents. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, as well as the University of Texas in Austin. Rose Marie, wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and friend touched many lives, simply by who she was. While she'll be missed, we know we will see her again because of the joy in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at her home in Katy, at the age of 65 years.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Leonard J. Barrera; children, L. Jay Barrera, Paul Barrera and his wife Dawn, Chris Curran and his wife Brooke, Shannon L. Gaudette and her husband Rob, Sarah Carlson and her husband Matt, and Debbie Tielke and her husband Greg; thirteen grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Witt and her husband Brad, and Martha Yarbrough; aunts, Fran McMurray and Martha Ellis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church, in Katy, with Rev. Cindi Lomax and Rev. Ronnie Webb officiating.
