RUSSELL E. FERRELL, JR. 89, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away May 1, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Millie Ferrell; son, Wesley Ferrell and wife D'Anne; daughter, Rachel Anderson and husband David; grandchildren, Connor and Caroline Ferrell, Ryan and Mason Anderson and many other family members and friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Russell E. & Marie Ferrell; brother, Lee Roy Ferrell; sister, Yvonne Ferrell.
Born June 13, 1923, in Goose Creek, Texas, he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and later from The University of Texas with a B. S. in Petroleum Engineering where he was a letterwinner on the varsity track team. He served in the Naval Air Corps as an Instructing Officer. He enjoyed a long career in the oil & gas industry and worked for Colorado Oil & Gas and other oil companies. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Russell had a passion for golf, UT football, politics, and a deep commitment to God and his church.
Honorary pallbearers: Jerry Showalter, Dr. Howard Purnell, John Pickens, Ken Jones, John Coffman, Norman Weng, and Wayne Curington.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 3, from 6-8pm at Klein Funeral Home, Champion Forest. Funeral Service will be at Spring Woods United Methodist Church, at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 4, 2013.
Memorial donations may be made to a or Spring Woods UMC.
