Sara Jo "JoJo" Levy Robbins
February 22, 1929 -
April 18, 2013
Sara Jo Robbins, age 84, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2013 with her loving husband Leonard by her side.
A native Houstonian, Jojo was born on February 22, 1929 to Dr. Moise Dreyfus Levy, Sr. and Sara Yvette Weill Levy. She attended Lanier Junior High, Lamar High School and The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a B.A. in Education in 1949.
Leonard and JoJo married on October 11, 1949 in Houston, Texas and lived for short periods of their lives in Cleveland, Ohio; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Wichita Falls, Texas ; and Boston, Massachusetts , before returning home to Houston in 1954 to raise their family. They retired to their dream home they designed and built outside of Cleveland, Texas for 22 wonderful years before returning to Houston in 2009. Jojo was an avid reader, weaver and knitter creating beautiful works of art and clothing, many of which are enjoyed by family and friends around the world. She possessed a positive, loving spirit and will always be remembered for her infectious smile and engaging laugh.
Surviving family members include her loving husband of more than 63 years, Dr. Leonard Roy Robbins; her five children: sons Michael Dennis Robbins and wife Judy Aschenbeck Robbins; Thomas Joseph Robbins; Brian David Robbins; daughters Alison Robbins Peterman and husband Michael Mackey Peterman; and Julie Robbins Campbell and husband Rickey Campbell; 15 grandchildren, Matthew Robbins and wife Emily, Caitlin Robbins Barber and husband Lute, Leah Robbins, Nancy Robbins, Jason Natanson and wife Melissa, Michael Peterman, Sara Peterman, Katharyn Peterman, Kirby Peterman, David Robbins, Carolyn Robbins, Amy Campbell, Kirke Campbell, Abbey Campbell and Graeme Campbell; 3 great-grandchildren, Alecsander Natanson, Jonathan Robbins and Emilia Barber; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Dr. Moise Dreyfus Levy, Jr. and sisters, Justine Levy Bennett and Melanie Levy Malewitz.
A special thank you to caregivers Ruby Wade, Portia Eaglin and the late Pearl Wells.
The family held a private celebration of Sara/JoJo/ Mom/Nana's life and asks that in lieu of customary remembrances a donation be made in her honor to the .
