Sydney Ann Donaghey Askew passed away in Houston, TX on January 13, 2013 at the age of 76 years. She is survived by her brother John Earl of Allen, TX and her three children: John Britton of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Carter of Houston, TX, and Robert Lee of Seattle, WA. Ann is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Bobby Gene and her parents John Luther and Tessie Faye (Carter) Donaghey to whom she was born in November 1936 in Falls Valley, OK. Ann grew up in West Columbia, TX and attended West Columbia high school, and upon graduation, she attended Sam Houston State University and then the University of Texas where she completed her Bachelor's degree in business administration and met her husband, where they eventually moved to Atlanta, GA. While in Atlanta, Ann completed an MBA at Mercer University and was very active in the Cursillo movement and the Episcopal Church. She also sang for many years with Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus that culminated in several performances in Carnegie Hall, NYC and the inauguration of US President James Carter. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00pm, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Burns Cemetery in Trenton, TX (off Hwy 121 East outside of Trenton). A fellowship is planned after the service at the First United Methodist Church in Trenton, TX at 215 N. 2nd Street, Trenton, TX 75490.
