Jerry Zela passed away in Yucaipa, California at age 80. He was born in Blessing, Texas and grew up in Rosenberg, Texas. As a Corporal in the US Marine Corps, Jerry earned a Korean Presidential Unit Citation, a United Nations Service Medal, a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart. Jerry went on to raise his family in Torrance, California on Towers Street where his extended family also resided. He spent the last 30 years in Yucaipa, California with his wife Marina LaVanWay Zela, who passed away in 2011. Jerry is survived by numerous family and friends across the country. Farewell to our Pops, Dad and Honey Grandpa. We'll miss your sparkly blue eyes and mischievous grin and treasure all the woodworking you left behind. Funeral services will be held at St. Francis X Cabrini Catholic Church, 12687 California Street, Yucaipa, CA 92399 (909)797-2533 at 10AM on Monday, April 7. Interment will follow at 1:30PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518 (951)653-8417
