On May 29th 2013, Jim McCabe passed away at his home surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. He was 70 years old.
Born in Ladysmith Wisconsin, Jim attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He and Karen married in 1967 and moved to California in 1974. Jim worked in the construction industry and ultimately he and his wife owned their own manufacturing business for 28 years. He enjoyed six wonderful years of retirement.
Jim was a pilot, avid sportsman and an excellent chef. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, cooking for his family and friends, and had a passion for life. He was a Past Master of the Claremont Masonic Lodge #436. He was a lifetime member of SASS and the Commemorative Air Force. He was also a member of the Santa Ana hangar of Quiet Birdmen. His philosophy was "if it had wings, why wasn't he flying it."
He is survived by his wife Karen, his daughter Susan and her partner Laura, his son Jay and his wife Tina and their two children Abby and James, and his sister Betty.
He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held on June 15th, 2013 at 11 am at Todd Memorial Chapel at 325 North Indian Hill Blvd in Claremont.
