Feb. 24, 1944 - July 14, 2014
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 19 11 a.m. at Faith Assembly Church in Imperial for Dewey James, 70, of Pine Top, AZ who passed away Monday, July 14 of heart failure.
Dewey was born February 24, 1944 in Alhambra, CA. He worked in the Imperial Valley for 35+ years with Bank of America, Duggins Construction, GM at Rancho Pontiac Buick in Brawley, and Special Agent for Northwestern Mutual from 1985 to 1996. He was a member of Lions Club, Rotary, Navy League, Elks Club, Tricounty Council, City Council for 7 years, Deacon at church, Good News Club, and Summit Health Care. Dewey's hobbies included fishing, golfing, woodworking (known as the "stick man") and spending time with his grandchildren. Dewey was most proud of being a great-grandfather. He was the best Papa in the world!
Dewey was preceded in death by his daughter, Jami Tucker.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna James; son and daughter-in-law, James and Mariann James; grandchildren, Tyson Tucker, Kendall James, Blake James, Makenna Tucker, and Jaime James; son-in-law, Michael Tucker; brothers, Paul James and EN James; his wife's family, as he called his own, The Duggins Clan and Sample and James families; his brother at heart, Jim Duggins and sisters, Charlotte, Julie and Jill.
As the Imperial Valley was the majority of his life, and helping people in church and financial matters, his extended family is too large to list.
The family suggests memorials to www. ivfaithassembly.org and www.turningpointiv.org.
