LOUIE R. SOLANO

Louie, 70, was born on August 27, 1943 and passed away October 29, 2013 in San Diego after a short illness.
Louie attended Westmorland Elementary School and graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1961. Louie played varsity football under Coach Bob Farrell for the Wildcats. He graduated from the University of San Diego in 1965 and entered the U.S Marine Corps from 1965 to 1967.
After his Marine service, Louie began a career in banking working for many years at the Bank of America branch in Brawley and spending a year working for Bank of America in Mexico City. After a brief time as a private businessman, Louie joined the INS and retired in 2006 after 20 plus years of service at the Calexico Port of Entry and as an instructor for one year at the Federal Law Enforcement Training facility in Glynco, Georgia.
Louie enjoyed being with his family and friends and is most remembered for his broad smile and happy demeanor and his friendliness and helpfulness to everyone he met.
Louie is survived by wife Rosa; daughter, Blanca; mother, Micaela R. Solano; sisters, Diana Maldonado and Amanda Armstrong; and brother Tony Solano, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Louie was preceded in death by his father Louis V. Solano.
Visitation will take place Sunday, November 3rd from 6 to 9 p.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley with rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday morning at Sacred Heart Church in Brawley. Louie will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery following Mass with a reception to follow at Sacred Heart Hall.
