Carlton Everett Cleveland, 91, of Caldwell died on Friday, May 10, 2013 at a local care center. Carl was born January 31, 1922 in Redstone, Montana. He was the 9th son of 12 boys born to Harold and Pearl Cleveland. Carl graduated high school in Plains, Montana in 1935. He joined the Navy in 1942 and served as Pharmacist's mate until 1945. After he was discharged, he moved to Spokane, WA. He met and married Leona Newton in 1946. They later moved to Boise, ID. Carl has resided in Boise and Meridian ever since. He and Leona had three children together, Michael, Ronald and Karla. Leona passed away in 1960 after a courageous battle with cancer. Carl worked at Eddy's Bread as a delivery truck driver serving the rural Treasure Valley. In 1962 he went to work for the Boise School District as a painter until 1972, at which time he left and went to work for Boise State University as a painter. He retired there in 1991. In April of 1969 he met and married Paula Cary. They were married for 32 years until Paula passed away in 2001. Carl was a member of the local American Legion and the VFW. His hobbies were fishing and gardening. His favorite fishing spots were over at Marsing fishing the Snake River, Anderson Ranch Reservoir and Little Camas, but he would fish anywhere there was water!
Carl is survived by his sons: Wally (Sandy) Newton of Meridian, Ron (Nancy) Cleveland of Caldwell, daughter-in-law, Cheryl and daughter, Karla Cleveland of Nampa, step-daughters: Marge Nichols of Boise, Edie and Wayne Bergevin of Nevada, and step-son, Mark (Debi) Cary of Boise; brother: Cecil (Alice) Cleveland of Spokane WA; numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael; ten brothers and his wives: Leona and Paula.
Graveside services will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, an announcement with the date and time will be announced at a later date. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.
