Frances Tonette Blythe
January 9, 1922 - October 24, 2013
Frances Tonette Blythe was born on January 9, 1922 in Beef River, Wisconsin to John and Tonette Thompson. She went to school in a one room school for all 12 grades, where the Bible was the central to the curriculum. After graduating in 1940, Frances found work with the US Marine Corps in the Casualty Department, in Washington DC. There she met a handsome young sailor from Missouri, while waiting at a bus stop - and it was love at first sight. His name was Bill Blythe. They were married a few short months later at Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington, VA on April 18, 1948.
Bill was soon off at sea. They were blessed with two children. A son, Kenneth Allen, was born in late 1949, and a daughter, Patricia Diane, completed the family almost two years later. The family moved where the Navy sent Bill to serve, living in IL, MD, VA, HI, and several other states.
Bill and Frances settled in Caldwell, ID in 1978 and soon established their church home at First United Methodist Church of Middleton. Throughout her life, Frances was a constant and faithful servant to her Savior, Jesus Christ. She led her husband of 65-plus years and instructed her children to follow in that same faith. She was frequently known to say, "We are sisters and brothers in Christ." All who knew her were blessed and her very petite stature belied her immense spirit. Frances was welcomed to meet her Savior on October 24, 2013, ending all of her physical suffering and limitations that she endured for the past several years.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Skoyen, her brother, James Thompson and her son, Ken. She is survived by her husband, Bill, daughter, Patty (Bill) Borowik, daughter-in- law, Sheila Blythe, 2 grandchildren, Christina (Tim) DeMars and Anna Borowik, 2 Great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family is requesting that any donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers. A viewing will be held from 5:30-7:30 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 31 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Middleton, ID. Burial will follow at the Middleton Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to
