Helmer Olie Jacobson

Helmer Olie Jacobson "Jake", 96, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 7, 2014 in Nampa, Idaho.
He was born in Tuttle, North Dakota on July 13, 1917 to Hans and Selma Jacobson and was baptized Lutheran. His mother passed away when he was 8 and he was taken in to live with his cousins Jakie and Matilda Jacobson. He moved to Nampa in 1939, joined the Army in 1941, and served in World War II. He married Agnes Hynek in 1943 in Toma, Wisconsin. In 1946 he was honorably discharged from the service and later joined the National Guard until his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed dancing until very late in life and was a member of the Elks Club in Nampa for over 40 years.
Helmer is survived by his wife Agnes of 71 years; his children, Richard and Ellen Jacobson of Rigby Idaho, and Deanna and Larry Turpen of Nampa, Idaho; 6 grandchildren, and 19 great grand children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, and brother.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Burial will follow with full military honors by the United States Army in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
