Bob was born in Oakland, CA on January 3, 1924. He grew up in Glenn's Ferry, Idaho and spent the majority of his adult life in the Nampa area. He married Reba Freshour, they had two children, Terry and Toni and later divorced.
Bob was married to June Stewart on December 30, 1975; they were married 37 years. They had many happy years together traveling and camping around the country

He enjoyed wood working, snowmobiling and spending time in the Pine and Featherville area. Bob was very proud of his award for being the oldest snowmobiler with the oldest snowmobile in the same year. When asked "How ya doing. Bob? He'd reply "Better than nothin'"
Bob's grandson Dave did a great job in summing up his grandpa in this post that appeared on Facebook:
"Saying a prayer for my Grandpa Bob, who passed away this morning. He was a self-made man. A WWII veteran, an accomplished baker, a fantastic builder, a loving husband, a great father and the best grandpa anywhere. He could accomplish anything with sheer will. No was not in his vocabulary. I've looked up to him my entire life. He was simply a great, great man. Love you Grandpa."
Bob is survived by his wife, June, children Toni Ward (Jerry), Terry Sheaffer (Kay), stepdaughter Geri Sweaney (Rick), grandchildren David Ward (April), Kevin Sheaffer (Tyran), Melissa Bacon (Brad), Kassandra Sheaffer, Scott Sweaney (Amber), Tina Tatum (Tim) , 8 great-grandchildren, niece; Vickie Petter and other family and friends.
