Our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, firefighter, airman and friend, Tanner A. Volkers, SSgt. USAF, 22, of Nampa, ID went to be with the Lord, on December 10, 2013 while Stationed at Joint Base Elemendorf Richardson (JBER), AK. Military Services will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at JBER Chapel. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Centennial Baptist Church (3610 E. Ustick Rd., Caldwell, ID).
Tanner was born March 6, 1991 in Nampa Idaho to Gary and Melissa Volkers. Tanner had a love for firefighting and for his country as well. Tanner was a member of the Middleton Rural Fire District Explorer Program and later graduated the recruit academy becoming a volunteer firefighter. After graduating from Vallivue High School in 2009, he joined the Air Force where he not only became an Airman, but also a Firefighter/EMT III with the 673rd Civil Engineer Squadron, The Arctic Warriors.
Tanner had many interests & hobbies which including belonging to the FFA during his high school years. Tanner also was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed mentoring and leading the JBER scout troop, which he took great pride and joys helping new scouts develop. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking and camping.
With a big smile on his face he was eager to learn, teach and mentor others. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Tanner is survived by his father and mother, Gary and Melissa; brother, Brody; sister, Tatyana; grandparents, Lorna Weller, Orien Weller, and Melanie Volkers; along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins.
He was preceded in death by Grandfather, John Volkers
