He was honorably discharged in 1955 and moved back home to the Caldwell area to resume dairy farming with his father, Gus.
Walter married Beverly Riggs in 1961 and together they raised their five children until Beverly's passing in 1976. Walter was a very dedicated and hard-working farmer, husband and father. He was an avid reader of historical novels, especially Idaho history, and enjoyed an occasional game of bowling. When he retired, Walter loved his monthly trips to Jackpot and meeting his friends for coffee.
Walter is survived by his five children, Debbie (Bob) Mahmoudi, Bonita (Reno) Bazzoli, Samuel (Colleen) Schmidt, Ella (Eric) Homburg, and Kurt (Jackie) Schmidt; his sister, Irene Howard; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
