Gone Fishing....
John Waylett Nielsen, Born on June 4th, 1932, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 19th, 2014. He is survived by his two children: Susan Nielsen Harris (Troy) and David Nielsen (Jenny), and his grandchildren: Makayla, Zackery, Michael, Issac, and his sister Nancy Chapin.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Ann Nielsen as well as his daughter Peggy Ann and his parents John Nielsen and Sarah Phelps.
He was a man who enjoyed nature and "got paid to take walks through the woods". He believed in enjoying family and loving life. His true passion was for fishing and even to the end he always talked about going fishing. He was a man who was always quick with a laugh or a joke and he loved to tease the people he loved. He had a great amount of patience and always taught others the meaning of life.
After four years in the United States Navy, he went on to college and became a Civil Engineer for the United States Forest Service. After 30 years of service, he retired and enjoyed the life that he had. He spent his summers at his cabin in Mackay, Idaho and would always wait for the spring so he could return. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a laugh in his heart.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at Mt. McCaleb Cemetery in Mackay, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to a Veterans charitable fund of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Lost River Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at:
