Scott Nielsen Jones, 74, of Pocatello, Idaho returned to his Heavenly Father surrounded by his loving family on March 15, 2013.
Scott was born May 2, 1938 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Jay Paul Jones and Jessie Lucile Nielsen Jones. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1956 and joined the Air Force the following day where he served until 1960. He met Audrey Ann Rubel while in the service and they were married on November 19, 1960 in Eagle Bend, Minnesota. They were later sealed in the Manti, Utah Temple.
Scott graduated from the University of Minnesota in accounting in 1966. He worked as a CPA in Seattle, WA and then moved to Pocatello Idaho in 1971 and then to the Tyhee area in 1975 where they raised four children and numerous horses. Scott worked for the CPA firm of Jones, Yost, Hatt, Erickson and Company, retiring in 2004.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in many positions. Scott and Audrey served two full-time missions in the Georgia Atlanta North Mission and the Chubbuck, ID Stake. They loved sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
From a young age Scott enjoyed sports of all kinds. In his spare time Scott loved riding horses, going on trail rides with friends, golfing, watching BYU sports and John Wayne movies, going hunting with friends, and going on long road trips with Audrey. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was always supportive of his grandchildren and attended as many activities as possible that they participated in.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Audrey Jones, and four children: Jeff (Linda) Jones of Twin Falls, Idaho; Becky (Art) Silva of Paul, Idaho; Bethany (Jason) Ludwig of Meridian, Idaho; Stephen (Shannalee) Jones of Lehi, Utah, 14 grandchildren (and one on the way) and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Arlene Mann of Orem, Utah and Paula Kunze of Ferron, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Merrill Jones, and a sister Becky Bradford.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife and family.
The family would like to thank Encompass Home Health and Hospice for all of their care and support this past week.
