Stuart Carty Obituary

STUART WALLER CARTY
February 6, 1944 - June 2, 2013
Stuart Waller Carty, 69, of Boise, Idaho, passed away on June 2, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on February 6, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Colonel Douglas Felix and Miriam Rose Carty, Stuart was the first of five brothers and was greatly loved by them all. Stuart was preceded in death by his brother, Tate Lamar Carty, and he is survived by his wife, Martha Davis Carty; by his parents, Colonel Douglas F. and Miriam Carty; by brothers Douglas F. Carty Jr. (Becky), Matthew King Carty (Karen), and Warren Austin Carty (Mausty); sisters-in-law Susan Parker (Bill), Karen Decosimo (Nick), and Lisa Brown (Scott); brothers-in-law Mike Davis (Patsy), Matt Davis (Julie); and many nieces and nephews.
Stuart graduated from General H. H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany, and he received his B.A. Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1967. While at the University of Tennessee, Stuart was in the ROTC and graduated as a 2nd Lieutenant. He served four years as an Air Force Officer at Travis Air Force Base during the Vietnam War. After his tour of duty, Stuart returned to the University of Tennessee where he completed his law degree in 1974.
In 1968, Stuart married the love of his life, Martha Davis of Signal Mountain, Tennessee. After completing his law degree, Martha and Stuart moved to Boise, Idaho. He was employed by the State Attorney General's Office and later went into private practice with Chip Houst and Rick Dredge. He was currently practicing at Carty Law.
Stuart practiced before state and federal courts and was a member of Idaho Trial Lawyers, American Association of Justice, National Rifle Association, Safari Club of America, Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship and Discovery Church (formerly known as Boise Valley Christian Communion Church).
Stuart and Martha were avid hunters. They loved hunting big game in and around Riggins, Idaho. They traveled the world in pursuit of wild game while making lifelong friends wherever they went. Stuart never met a stranger and his life was full of love and laughter.
The great loves of his life were his wife, Martha, his family, the many spiritual children he mentored, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Funeral Services will be held at Discovery Church 1177 N. Roosevelt Boise, Idaho on Friday, June 7th at 10:00am. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

I worked for Stuart for a year after I graduated college. One of the best bosses I have ever had. He was a great man and a wonderful friend. Martha - I am sorry for your loss. I will always have great memories of Stu singing in his office. Stuart made everyone around him happy and he will be greatly missed.

I will miss that sweet southern drawl weave through conversations like only he could do. I smile remembering some of his stories and the twinkle in his eye as he captivated his listeners. Stuart was one of the most authentic believers I have ever known. I suspect Stuart is standing by the gate saying "Y'all come" I sure will miss my buddy! Martha, you are and have been a real saint. You walked with him every step of the way! If you ever need us (I mean it) call 530-520-3777

I just learned of Stuarts death and I am so sad. Stuart was a wonderful and loyal friend. If anyone will need a Lawyer when they get to heaven it will probably be me. Thankfully I know Stuart will be there to represent me. I couldn't ask for a better advocate and skilled Lawyer. Rest easy Stuart, I love and miss you already...

Although we only visited with you on the too few occasions we all gathered at Darla's, there was no doubt about the quality of the man named Stuart. Your actions demonstrated a genuine compassion for your fellow man and love for your Martha. Those who knew you have been blessed. Until we meet again. Larry & Wendy
