Carl Egli, 83, of Boise went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 1:30pm. Holding his hand was his faithful, loving, and devoted wife of 39 years, Jane Egli who survives him.
Carl was born on June 2, 1930 in Lutzenberg, Switzerland. His parents were Karl and Verni Egli-Schegg.
He started school in May,1937 in Heerbrugg, Switzerland. Then moved to Lutzenberg, November 1. 1939 where he went to school until he left for America October 14, 1940. He continued in 4th grade in McKinley school in San Francisco from where he graduated in Spring, 1943. From there he went to Junior High School at St. Marys, Berkeley, transferred to Lowell High and moved to San Jose attending Lincoln High until graduation in 1939 when he enrolled in San Jose College and graduated with Business Degree.
While attending SJC,he enlisted in the US Army to go to Korea. However, when the military
looked over his resume, his orders were changed to Germany because of his language background. He spent 2 years in Dillingham, Germany as an Army interpreter returning to San Jose to fiinish at SJC. During this time, he met and married Diane Suhr, July 14, 1957 and were divorced 1972. To this union were born a son, David, a daughter, Susan and a son, Robert. In 1974, he met Jane Hess at a Christian Retreat in Northern Minnesota. After marriage, they were baptized together at the First Baptist Church, Minneapolis, MN.
During his life, Carl worked for many companies as a plant engineer. His last job was working for Lockheed Missiles and Space company in Sunnyvale, CA. He retired early in 1992 to take care of his son Robert.
Carl is survived by a brother, Walter (Gloria) Egli, his 3 children, David (Natalie), Susan (Mike) Sawatzky, and Robert, 2 grandchildren, Jason and Sarah, Carls' step children Charles and Lucille Hess, Dan and Diane Duke, Johanna (Christopher) Chapman, and Mark and Julie Wolff. Many step grandchildren Jenna Duke Ottman, Peter Duke, Patrick Duke, Christina Chapman Larson, Charlie Chapman, and Amber Wolff.
Thank you to all of Carl's loving caretakers, expecially Liz Richmond and her family.
A Celebration of Carl's life will be held at his church, Covenant Presbyterian located at 4848 N. Five Mile Road, Boise, ID 83713 on Saturday, November 9th, 2013 from 1 to 4 pm.
