Gerald (Jerry) Lee Hart
1935 ~ 2013
Gerald (Jerry) Lee Hart, 78, of Boise, passed away December 6 in a Las Vegas hospital due to stroke related complications.
Jerry was born in Worthington, Minn. to Kenneth G. and Lucille Peters Hart on January 17, 1935. He was married to Patricia Stovern in the First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, Minn. on September 20, 1959 and later divorced. In 1979, he married Susan George Hart in Sun Valley. They later divorced.
After graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1953, he served in the U. S. Air Force in France. After his service, he graduated from Mankato State University (Minnesota State University, Mankato).
Jerry was a respected leader in healthcare. After moving to Idaho in 1970, he served as administrator/consultant of numerous hospitals in the state, as well as in Oregon, California and Russia. He was involved in various civic originations including Rotary International, local Chambers of Commerce and national healthcare associations, served as president of the Idaho Hospital Association in 1979 and was called out of retirement several times by former Idaho Governor Phil Batt to assist with projects to turn around state-owned hospitals in Orofino and Nampa.
Jerry had many close associates and friends over the years. Many of his friendships were formed while serving for more than 30 years in his hospital administrative capacities. While Jerry was highly regarded professionally by healthcare associates, he was truly loved by his personal friends and was known for his compassionate and inclusive style of leadership. Jerry maintained many of these contacts for more than 40 years. They knew Jerry as a trusted friend who was very generous with his time and resources. Jerry was a man of character and dependability. He was someone who was universally liked and respected. Those who knew him well will always have great memories of fun times at his lakeside home in McCall, being entertained on boats Jerry owned, water skiing on Payette Lake, snow skiing at Brundage, rounds of golf on so many courses and, of course, spirited political discussions.
Jerry will be greatly missed for his great sense of humor, his competence and classy personal manner and his sincere encouragement to those who were fortunate to have him as a friend.
Jerry is survived by his sister, Karen (Gary) Walker of Dallas, TX, niece, Shelley Biernat of Jacksonville, FL, son, Steven Hart of Paradise Valley, AZ and daughter, Stacey Joyner of Arlington, VA as well as single grandchild, Joshua Joyner, also of Arlington, VA.
Jerry's preference was that no funeral services be held.
