John C. Carroll

John C. Carroll passed away May 3, 2013 at Crescent City Hospital at 91 years of age.
John Campbell Carroll (best known as Jack) was born April 19, 1923 in Chicago IL. He was the second born of four children of William H. and Ruth A. (Campbell) Carroll.
He attended Parochial schools through high school in Chicago and St. Vincent's College in Cape Girardeau, MO
After one year of college, he left to join the U.S. Navy during World War Two in 1942 and served until September of 1947. After two years on the East Coast in the Atlantic and aboard the U.S.S. Bray (D.E. 709), he spent the final two navy years in Hawaii. In 1951 he married Nadine Filler in Los Angeles. They divorced in 1958. In 1961 he married Virginia Ruth Edwards in Barstow, CA They spent their lives together in Boise, ID, until her death in 1997.
Jack tried his hand at over twenty jobs, before beginning his 25 year career in broadcasting, both radio and television. After retiring, Jack worked in new car sales, video production, and managed a pizza parlor in Boise.
He moved to Brookings in 1998 with Mary Schwarz. They married in 2000.
Jack was preceded in death by his brother Bill Carroll, and his sisters Pat Hedges and Mary Helen Gallagher.
He is survived by his son Kevin Carroll (Austin, TX,) his wife Mary (Boise, ID), his stepson Troy, his wife Hanna and their son Jackson (Los Angeles, CA); stepdaughter Jenifer (Boise, ID); grand children Quinn, Zach, and Alexis; stepson Doug; his stepdaughter Sharon; and several nieces and nephews.
