Karl Maurice Christie passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2014.
Karl was born in Boise, ID, April 22, 1942 to Eleanor and M.H. Christie. He was the youngest of three children.
Karl attended Boise High where he played guard on the football team. He made numerous life-long friends whom he enjoyed visiting regularly to reminisce about the "good old days." After graduating high school in 1962 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve as a Lance Corporal in the 2nd Tank Co. In 1967, he traveled to Vietnam where he worked for Alaska Barge & Transport. In 1971 he married Cheryl Ellison. Karl and Cheryl spent many great years together before divorcing. They remained good friends. It was during this marriage that Karl's greatest two accomplishments were born; his sons Darin Christie and David Christie-Amy.
Karl spent his life in the trucking industry. He worked for Willis Shaw Express, helped create the Vocational Ed. School of Trucking for BSU and later in life drove buses.
Karl's hobbies included fishing, attending BSU football games, visiting with friends and family, and cheering on his granddaughters at basketball games.
Karl is survived by his two sons, Darin (Stephani) Christie of Meridian and David (Jacob) Christie-Amy, of Seattle who he was extremely proud of; two granddaughters, Haily Christie and Kennedy Christie, whom he loved dearly; his sister, Maureen Kirby of Fruitland; his brother Jack (Delores) Jesberger of Spokane and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A viewing will be held from 4-7pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Summers Funeral Homes, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, July 10, 2014 also at Summers Funeral Homes, Boise.
