Norman Thomas "Mike" Burroughs
1930 - 2013
Norman Thomas "Mike" Burroughs , 82, of Boise, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, surrounded by loved ones.
Mike was born in Seymour, Missouri on December 21, 1930 and was raised in Marshfield, Missouri as the youngest of four children of Thomas Cory and Dott Almira Burroughs. After graduation from Marshfield High School he joined the United States Air Force and served honorably in the Korean Conflict where he gained skills as an electronics technician. After the war he moved to Southern California where he worked as a television repairman until relocating to Boise in the late 1950's. He married Martha Ramona Martinez Horejs on April 15, 1965 and together they established several long standing Boise businesses, including Capital Electronics, Capital Car Stereo and Capital Sports Sales.
Mike retired from years of self-employment in 1979 and enjoyed travel and many Idaho outdoor activities as well as spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha; his daughter, Marta Burroughs Nelson; and his step children, Michael Horejs and Rosemarie Horejs Painter; grandchildren, Stephanie, Angela, Andrew, Austin, Nicholas and Allison.
Mike's family would like to thank his nurses and social workers from St. Luke's Hospice and the loving caregivers from Bright Star.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7th at Alden Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise, Idaho
Because he was a former member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and boating safety was extremely important to him, the family suggests that memorials, in lieu of flowers, be made in Mike's memory to the Boise Chapter of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, c/o Mountain West Bank, #2970, E. St. Luke's Dr., Meridian, ID 83642.
