Betty Bauer

Mrs. Betty Anne Bauer, age 92, passed away on November 9, 2013, following a brief illness. She was born in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of Carl W. Regel and Eleanor C. Regel. She was a graduate of Indiana University where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, and earned her Master's Degree in Business from the University of Southern California. She taught Business in the Evansville High Schools and at Evansville College. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Esther N. Regel of Evansville, Indiana and her husband of 46 years, George D. Bauer.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith L. Holland (David) of Anderson, her son Alan W. Bauer of Houston, TX, her grandsons Robert P. Holland (Susie) of Anderson, David M. Bauer (Sarah) of Odenton, MD, and Steven J. Bauer (Kristen) of Houston, TX and great-grandchildren Johnathan Holland and Abigail Holland of Anderson, Nicci Bauer and Lydia Bauer of Odenton, MD, and Dominic Sawin, Kaitlin Bauer and Seth Bauer of Houston, TX. She was a longtime member of St. John's United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her name to St. John's United Methodist Church, 515 South McDuffie Street, Anderson, SC 29624 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

Betty was a wonderful lady and one of my mother's best friends. We have many fond memories of the two of them together.

Betty was a lovely woman, whom I knew through bridge. She was an excellent player who never made her partner feel less than equal at the game. It is sad to say good-bye.
