Anderson - Millard, C. Monnen, Jr., 62, died at home under Hospice Care on Monday, May 13, 2013.
Born on December 30, 1950, in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Col. Millard C. Monnen, and Elizabeth J. Monnen. He was a graduate of Clemson University, studied two years at Louisiana State University in Landscape Architecture, and was part owner of Foothills Nurseries Inc, with his sister, Elizabeth, for 20 + years. He worked for King's Sunset Nursery, Inc. for 12 + years, where he had just retired on December 31, 2012. Bud was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. He had participated in numerous committees, major ones being the Board of Trustees and the Building Fund Committee. He worked many long and hard hours with other members of the congregation to get the Christian Life Center of the Church built. His employer, King's Sunset Nursery Inc., donated graciously to Zion for the landscaping of the new building and the church.
Bud was a lover of life and a gentle man who would help anyone who needed a hand. He was a jokester and always had a story to tell you; sometimes the truth and other times just to see how much he could get away with.
Bud is survived by his wife Patti of the home and their three dogs, Jack, Maxie and Skipper, a sister Elizabeth of Anderson; and a brother William and wife Grace and their daughter Christina from Natick, Massachusetts.
Bud has been cremated. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at Zion United Methodist Church in the Sanctuary at 4:00 pm on Sunday May 26th.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church - Building Debt, 5708 SC Hwy 187, Anderson, SC 29625
