Barbara L. Watson
71, of Riverside Street, Portsmouth, RI, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2013 in Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. She was the loving wife of Stephen P. Watson for 45 years.
Born in Attleboro, MA on February 4, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Mario and Bella Nobrega.
Barbara grew up in Attleboro and was a 1960 graduate of Attleboro High School. After graduation she attended Stonehill College and received a B.S. in Biology. Barbara joined the Peace Corps in 1964 and spent 2 years in Ghana, Africa. In 1993 she graduated from Indiana University with a Masters Degree in Library Science.
She was employed as a biology teacher at Saint Monica School and as a medical librarian at Wishard Memorial Hospital both in Indianapolis, IN.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Paul Watson and his wife Arlene of Mesa, AZ, Joshua Watson and his wife Christa of Carmel, IN, Joan Isaac of Fishers, IN and Christine and her husband Kevin Peck of Scottsdale, AZ; also 10 grandchildren.
Barbara enjoyed skiing, biking, rollerblading, surfing and singing. She was a ski instructor for Special Olympics, a volunteer for Inner City Ministries in Indianapolis, IN and a Read-Up tutor for United Way of Central Indiana
Burial was held at St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro, MA on Oct. 8th.
A memorial Mass will be offered at St. Monica Church in Indianapolis on Tuesday, November 19th at 11 a.m. The Mass will be preceded by an hour of visitation with the family, also at the church.
