Bobby C. Hughes
77, Indianapolis, passed away July 20, 2014. He was born on January 25, 1937 to the late Charley and Flonnie Hughes. Bob graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1955. He received his B.S. Degree in Education from Indiana University in 1959 and his M.S. Degree in 1965. He joined the faculty of Ben Davis High School as a teacher of Speech and English, usually for the college bound student, as well as Technical Director of Dramatics. He later became Chairman of the Drama Department where he was responsible for directing three major and one secondary dramatic productions every year. After 35 years he retired in 1995. Bob was a member of the Wayne Township Teachers Assoc; Indiana State Teachers Assoc; National Education Assoc; IU Alumni Assoc; Fleming Garden Christian Church, where he was active for many years, and various other organizations. Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially on holidays, birthdays, and other functions. He also enjoyed reading, music, traveling, and his two dogs, Hootie and Kaloni, his constant companions.
Bob is survived by his sister, Barbara Walls (Bob); and several nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Conkle Funeral Home Speedway Chapel , from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, with a memorial service beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the
