Carl C. Trittipo
89, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Autumn Hills, Bloomington, IN, surrounded by his family. Born December 6, 1924, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was a son of Frank Trittipo and Margaret Trittipo Stader. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School (Indianapolis), and attended the University of Kentucky.
Carl served in the Army as Staff Sergeant in the Engineer Model Makers Detachment, stationed in England, Northern France and Germany 1943 to 1946. He was awarded a Bronze Star. President of Century Construction Company in Indianapolis, he built many restaurants throughout the United States, including Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Omelet Shoppes and Arthur Treacher's. Carl loved wearing his University of Kentucky cap everywhere he went. He and his wife, Shirley, recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley. They have two daughters, Carol McPike (Steve) Albany, GA, and Cathy Howell (David), Bloomington,IN; also three grandchildren, Pamela Crowe (Travis) Solsberry, IN, Patrick Howell (Dawn), Austin, TX, and Rebecca Howell, Chicago, IL; they have two greatgrandchildren, Megan Lynn Crowe and Xavier Grant Crowe (Solsberry), and one greatgrandson on the way (Austin, TX). Carl was preceded in death by grandson, Carl Joseph Howell. He is also survived by his sister, Elsie Mae Trittipo (Des Moines, IA).
Visitation will be Monday, August 4, 2014, 9:00-11:00 a.m.at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard , 3000 E. Third Street, in Bloomington. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. at The Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to the
