Daniel Scott Thien
21, Indianapolis, died June 7, 2013. He was born May 18, 1992, in Salem, Ore., the second of four children to Scott and Kelly (formerly Bunkers) Thien. He moved to Indianapolis with his family in 1995, where he attended Castleview Baptist Preschool, Mary Castle Elementary School, Craig Middle School and Lawrence North High School. He graduated from LN in 2010 and attended Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and Ivy Tech Community College, where he recently was named to the Dean's List. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish at Geist in Fishers, Ind. He also was a Cub Scout, a taekwondo black belt and an avid coin collector.
He is survived by his parents; brothers Andrew and Josh; sister Katie; grandparents Richard and Elaine Thien, St. Louis, Mo., and Gerry and Donna Bunkers, Sioux Falls, S.D.; uncles and aunts John and Jill Bunkers, Mike and Tracie Bunkers, Jeremy and Kelsey Bunkers, Sherry and Scott Grother, and Mark Thien; and cousins Jacob, Josephine, Jessica, Tommy, Cameron and Caleigh Bunkers. He loved his family, his girlfriend Jillian Pino, his many friends, and his golden retriever Juno.
Daniel was the epitome of love, and was known to all as a selfless, giving, kind, generous, loyal, persistent, courageous, compassionate, funny, wonderful and hardworking perfectionist who would do anything for anyone in need.
Services are Thursday, June 13, at Holy Spirit Parish at Geist, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation at 9:30 a.m. to time of Mass. Reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Interment will be private. Services are handled by Flanner and Buchanan - Oaklawn Memorial Gardens , 9700 Allisonville Road, Fishers.
