Edward G. Vargo

79, died peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2012. He was born on March 9, 1933 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University, and a Master's Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he was awarded the Outstanding Professional Award.

Ed was a Licensed Social Worker, and a Certified Reality Therapist, and retired from St. Vincent's Stress Center where he worked as a substance abuse counselor. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and sang in St. Paul's Choir. Ed was also a member of Pride of Indy Barbershop Chorus for many years. Besides music he enjoyed painting, sailing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn of 55 years; his children, Dianne Vargo, Kathie MacDonald-Vargo, and Edward (Michele) Vargo; his grandchildren, Lacey Kimbro, Jacquelyn (Kevin) Boone, Jessica Kimbro, Andrew Breedlove, and Joshua (Stefanie) Vargo; great-graddaughter Abigail Vargo and his sister, Arlene (Carl) McEwen. He was preceded in death by daughter, Terianne Breedlove.

Family and friends will gather on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel , with funeral services being celebrated on Monday December 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
