Edward J. Leibrock Obituary

Edward J. Leibrock

92, Indianapolis, IN, died peacefully on November 19,2012. He was born Sept. 15, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late John and Leona (Gerlot) Leibrock. Raised in Chicago, Illinois, Ed served in the Army Signal Corps in the South Pacific from 1942 — Christmas Day 1945. He married Lucille Hausmann in May 1943 and graduated from Northwestern University in 1948 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ed worked as a chief Industrial Engineer and Projects Engineer for US Ceramic Tile, the Huffy Corporation, and FMC Link Belt. He retired from the engineering division of the Cabot Corporation, St. Louis, MO in 1989, and for many years he served on the Conservancy Board at Heritage Lake where he and Lu built their retirement home.

Preceding him in death are his parents John and Leona Leibrock, his wife of 67 years, Lucille Hausmann Leibrock and his sister Catherine Leibrock Schmehling. Surviving are his five children: Kathryn Leibrock Allison; John Leibrock (Susan); Elizabeth Leibrock Perner (Fred); Edward J. Leibrock, Jr; and James Leibrock, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Ed was truly a renaissance man. He loved to race sail boats, hunt peasants, play bridge, visit with friends, and follow his beloved Northwestern Wildcats. He was a great conversationalist and could dance a spirited polka. Ed could fix anything and was creative in designing ways to accomplish any task more efficiently whether it was a major project in manufacturing or coming up with a better way to load a dishwasher. He was a beloved husband, treasured father, and a valued friend. In keeping with his wishes a private memorial service will be held in January for his family and friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to

The Cremation Society of Indiana.
