Felicia M. Boyd-Smith Obituary

Felicia Marie Boyd-Smith

54, Indianapolis, went to be with her LORD on February 14, 2013. Felicia was born to the union of William Calvan Boyd, Jr and Mary Elizabeth Boyd in Indianapolis, IN on September 24, 1958. She was the oldest of three children, Cathy Boyd of Indianapolis, Indiana, Marsha Williamson (Tracy) of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Felicia attended Saint Monica Elementary and still remained a member of the Parish until her passing. Later she attended North Central High School, Indianapolis where she graduated with honors a semester early in 1976. After graduation Felicia worked for the City of Indianapolis. She attended Indiana University, Bloomington, where she met her husband, Keith L. Smith Sr. Felicia moved back to Indianapolis and graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University (IUPUI) with a B.S. in Psychology. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She later received her Master's Degree in Social Work in 2004.

She and Keith were married on June 6, 1981. Their union produced three children, Alicia Marie Smith-Ranallo (Theodore), San Antonio, Texas, Keith L. Smith Jr., Indianapolis, and Brandon B. Smith, Indianapolis. Felicia loved her family and was most proud to have Rozelle Boyd as her uncle.

Throughout Felicia's life children were central to her character and purpose. She sought out a position with the Marion County Department of Child Welfare as a case manager in 1986. She truly enjoyed her work and took her job very seriously. She reluctantly left The Department of Child Welfare to accept a position with the State Department of Child Protection Services where she was Policy Director. Felicia always dotted her "I's" and crossed her "T's". She always said a word misspelled or an out of place word was unacceptable. It broke her heart to leave the job she loved so much and had worked for 29 years. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Crown Hill Remembrance Hall. Services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 in St. Monica's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., with calling from 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Repast at St. Monica's Catholic Church, 6131 N. Michigan Road. Arrangements: Crown Hill Funeral Home .
