Harry Francis Fargo

90, of Indianapolis, loving husband and father, peacefully passed away on April 15, 2013. He was born in Gary, IN on May 25, 1922 to the late Frank H. and Mary A. (Murray) Fargo. He was a former caddie at Gary Country Club where he learned to play golf, a lifelong hobby. Harry graduated from Merrillville High School where he was also a member of the track team and President of his class.

He answered the call for volunteers and enlisted in the Army Air Corp serving as a navigator in a B24 during World War II. As a second lieutenant he flew 50 missions out of Italy in the 460th bomber group.

At the conclusion of the war he returned to Purdue University where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering and met his wife of 66 years, the former Katie Gannon. He was a lifelong Boilermaker fan.

In 1949 he started Fargo Insulation Co., Inc. After more than 40 years in the business he was respected for his attention to quality in work and fairness in dealing with his competitors and employees.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathleen (Katie); his children, Ed Fargo, Teresa Fargo, Elizabeth Kehlenbrink, Jean Castek and Margaret (Karl) Olsen; 9 loving grandchildren, James, Eric, Christine, Lindsey, Hannah, Shannon, Tom, Katie and Mari; sister, Dorothy Lennertz and sister-in-law, Grace Fargo. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Lenahan and brothers, Jim and Tom. In his last years he was lovingly cared for by his family. The family would like to express their gratitude to his special caregivers, Angela, Janie, Kellie, and Phyllis.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel . An additional visitation will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:25 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m.
