Henry C. "Heinie" Schakel

90, of Indianapolis, passed away March 28, 2014. He was born October 12, 1923 in Marion County to the late Henry A. and Ida Lea Schakel.

Heinie attended Michigan State University and was married to Thelma E. Luebkeman Schakel preceding him in death May 22, 2010. Heinie served his country during WW II in the U. S. Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant Flight Engineer aboard the B-29. He was vice president of the Schricker Co. Inc. for 25 years retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Murat Shrine Court 15 and Zion U.C.C.

Visitation will be Monday March 31, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St. with funeral service on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.

Heinie is survived by his daughters, Shelah Hartley and Sandra Baker; grandchildren, Carrie Freeman (Jason), Wendy Vest (Shawn), Mark Scott (Andrea) and Robert King III; and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Hoover.
