Herbert Edwin Wrancher

91, of Indianapolis, passed away February 9, 2013. He was born November 16, 1921, in Louisville, KY, to the late Charles Edwin and Evelyn Louise Helck Wrancher.

Herbert was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School, Class of 1939, Rose Polytechnic Institute in 1941 and Indiana University in 1948. He served his country in WWII in the U. S. Navy and married Marianne Rose Hackney, August 21, 1948. She preceded him in death, July 28, 1978.

Herbert worked as an accountant for the Allison Division of GMC for 45 years, retiring in 1986. Mr. Wrancher was a faithful member and treasurer of the Irvington United Methodist Church for 63 years. He was also a Life Member of Indiana University Alumni Association and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St.

Herbert is survived by his loving daughter, Anne Helen Kemezy (Ronald); beloved granddaughter, Amy E. Kemezy; great-grandson, Gavin A. Wilson; and a sister-in-law, Ellen E. Hackney. A brother, Robert Wrancher, and a sister, Elizabeth A. Wrancher, preceded him in death.
