Herman Fields

86, Martinsville, the patriarch of our family, passed away on March 16, 2014. Born on July 22,1927 in Indianapolis to the late Charlie and Beatrice Fields, he was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. A great, honorable and proud man; he had a warrior spirit and special talent to turn any event into a humorous event.

An avid square dancer, he enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, motorcycles, history and politics.

His love of dance and fun will bring a smile to us often. We will keep the stories flowing of his long and colorful life!

Herman retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years and then owned and operated Field's Guttering in Indianapolis.

He was a member of the Martinsville American Legion, Moose, V.F.W and Senior Citizen Center.

Survivors include children, Daniel Everett Fields (Gail), Beatrice May "Maybe" Falls (Ronald), Michael Lewis Fields (Vickie), Frank Lloyd Fields (Pam), Barbara Fern Holman (Don); 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; special friend Sue Knopf.

He was preceded in death by wife, Carolyn Ilene Fields; daughter, Marilyn Ilene Sagun; sister, Doris and brother, David.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20 in G.H.
