James "Don" Boyle
88, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. He was born July 31, 1924, in Bartholomew Co., IN, to the late Jacob and Edell Barkes Boyle.
Don served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre, Automatic Weapons Battalion #556. He was a graduate of Purdue University and worked as an engineer for the Indiana Department of Transportation for over 35 years before retiring in 1986. Don was a member of Irvington United Methodist Church, and enjoyed traveling with his wife of 62 years.
Visitation will be Friday, April 26, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St. with funeral services Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Alice White Boyle; nephews, Tom Manley and Grant White; niece, Marcia White; and sister-in-law, Marilyn White. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Boyle; and niece, Susan Boyle.
