James "Jim" William Cotter Jr.

88, died on Feb. 8, 2014 at American Village Retirement Community, where he had received excellent care, after a courageous battle with cancer. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. He was the loving husband of Ellen (Houlihan) and devoted father of Steve, Jim (Angie), Jenny (Tracy), Shannon (Tim) and Paul (Susie). He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Anne (Flynn); his sister, Dorothy Watson and his infant daughter, Susan. He was born in Newark, N.J. on Aug. 19, 1925 and raised in R.I. He moved to Indianapolis, newly married in 1961, where he worked for Owens Corning Fiberglas. He was madly in love with his grandchildren, Jake, Casey, Jack, Olivia, Katie, Max, Henry, George, Sam, Charlie and Aggie and they will miss him dearly. A wake will be held in his honor at Crown Hill Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Fri., Feb. 14. His funeral will be at Christ the King Church at 10:30 a.m. on Sat. Feb. 15. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Broad Ripple Haverford Little League, where Jim served as President for two years, or to Christ the King.
