Janet M. Meyer

66, of Indianapolis passed away on April 20, 2013. She was born August 25, 1946 on the last day of the good old days in Oak Park, IL; the first of four kids to Viola and Tom Cody. She graduated with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Purdue University in 1968, one of only two women in her graduating class. She went on to pursue a Master's degree in Religion at CTS where she also pursued a relationship with Creighton Meyer, a seminarian. They married on October 20, 1973 and Janet put her career on hold to raise nine children. In her late 40s, she returned to work as a Case Manager at St. Mary's Child Center before being recruited to work for the Engineering & Technology Department at IUPUI as an Academic Specialist. In 2009, Janet earned her Masters of Science in Education. She attended Christ the King Catholic church where she taught religious education for several years and was selected as the North Deanery Religious Educator of the Year. Janet was actively involved in Pre-school Co-op including President of Indianapolis Area, Indianapolis Public School PTO, including President of many PTOs. She was also a swim coach at Arsenal Tech High School and was Swim Coach of the year. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Tom. She is survived by her sister, Julie and her brother, Greg, her husband, her children Jonathan, Melanie, Cynthia, Paul, Nicholas, Gregory, Julia, Jeffrey and Heidi, ten grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. A calling will be held Thursday, April 25 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on April 26 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church.
