John W. Esterline III

Was a 1953 graduate of Park Tudor School, Cum Laude, 1957 graduate of Brown University B.S. English Major, a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, United States Army Reserve, a 1962 graduate of University of Michigan with a degree in Landscape Architecture. John had a 50 year career with his family business at Eagle Creek Nursery, where he was president until his retirement in 2008. He also served as president for the Indianapolis Landscape Association in 1968. He was a member of the Indianapolis Dramatic Club and Woodstock Country Club.

John was a man of immense charms, whose equally outsize love of life will be missed by all who knew and adored him. He will be remembered for his wit, his intellect, his kindness, and most especially, the ever-present twinkle in his eye. He was the life of every party, whose fondness for entertaining and always-dapper demeanor evinced the importance he placed on living well. He loved Burberry, the great outdoors, fine food, and his many friends, especially Dr. Bradley Calobrace, Martin Horner, and Joe Schroeder.
