John William "Bill" Johnson

81, of Indianapolis, died after a long illness on Sunday, December 16, 2012. Born on September 10, 1931, Bill was the eldest son of Karl F. and Rosemary Johnson of Kokomo, Indiana. After the Johnson family moved to Indianapolis, Bill attended Cathedral High School and later the University of Notre Dame. In 1952 Bill was drafted into the Marines and proudly served in Korea. Upon his return from Korea he married Mary Cay Rembusch of Indianapolis. They had one child, Catherine Ann. In 1967 Bill started his own company, JWJ Inc., and became a very successful manufacturer's representative. He is remembered as someone who opened doors for many a small company by representing them to the big three auto makers in Detroit.

Bill Johnson was a consummate salesman, charming, quick with a joke or a kind word; he was a man who understood the importance of relationships and forged many with secretaries, factory works, managers and CEO's alike. He loved beautiful things, handsome clothes, unusual jewelry, and the occasional trip to New York with his wife, Cay to "dust themselves off." His charm, humor, appreciation of beauty and generosity of spirit was well known. If a life well lived is measured by the depth and breadth of one's friends - Bill Johnson lived very well indeed. He is survived by his daughter Catherine and her partner Dana of Vashon, WA, his sister, Julie Klausmeyer of Houston, TX, his brothers: Paul and Chris Johnson of Austin, TX and Steve Johnson of Victoria B.C.

A private family Mass will be held in the Cathedral of Sts. Peter & Paul, Indianapolis, with burial in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. The family wishes that any donations be made in Bill Johnson's name to either St. Patrick's Church 1229 N. Washington St, Kokomo, IN 46901 or The Carmelite Sisters, PO Box 260, Oldenburg, IN 47036.
