Kathleen W. Shaw

94, of Danville, passed away peacefully Saturday in Hendricks Regional Health. Born November 29, 1919 in Oden, she was the daughter of Richard and Augusta Keller Williams. She married John E. Shaw in Washington, D.C. on August 6, 1942. He preceded her in death March 29, 2007. Katie was a 1937 graduate of Danville High School. She earned her BA degree from Central Normal College in Danville in 1941 and earned her masters' degree in Library Science from Indiana University. During her 40 year teaching career, Katie taught high school English, Latin and Phys. Ed. in Indiana schools in Morristown, Clayton, Wayne Township and Indianapolis. (Ben Davis High School, Jr. High and Fleming Garden) She also served for several years as the librarian at Maplewood Elementary School in Indianapolis. Katie was an active member in the Danville Presbyterian Church for over 30 years. She was a member of Psi Chi Sorority at Central Normal College, Tri Kappa Sorority and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. Surviving Katie is her daughter, Suzanne K. Shaw of Danville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Her parents, husband; and siblings, Daphne, Francis, Enid, Ladosca, Guy, Emil, Woody and Charles Milton, preceded her in death. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Baker Funeral Home , Danville, with burial to follow in Danville South Cemetery.
