Lida May Raines Beikes

95, of Indianapolis, passed away May 2, 2014. She moved here from Lancaster, KY, in 1937, and was the only female life member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association. She was employed with Kay Jewelers and Murray Showrooms for many years.

Lida was a member of the American Legion Post #465 Ladies Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2999 Ladies Auxiliary.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel , 5377 E. Washington St.

Lida is survived by her nieces, Ina Patricia Siefert and Neva Jane Peterson (Charles); brother-in-law, Lawrence Keegan; great-nephew, Jason Siefert; great-nieces, Stacia Siefert, Paula Peterson-Gyimesi (Zoli) and Karen Peterson-Gordon (Randy); six great-great-nephews; and one great-great-niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tillman E. Beikes, who had been honored by having the Indianapolis Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division Association named after him.

Two sisters, Elsie Marie Raines Keegan and Mattie B. Raines Kindred, preceded her in death.
